Audio Player

Play a local audio file or an online sound URL when an alert fires. You can choose the playback volume and which audio output device to use - perfect for routing stream alerts to a specific audio device without affecting your main speakers.

What You Need​

  • A local audio file (.mp3, .wav, etc.) saved on your PC or a direct URL to an audio file
  • Optionally: a specific audio output device configured in Windows

Quick Start​

  1. Create or edit an alert.
  2. Click Add Action and select Audio Player.
  3. Choose the source type: Local File or URL.
  4. Select your file or enter the URL.
  5. Set the volume (1–100).
  6. Optionally select an output device.
  7. Save and test.

Configuration Options​

Source Type​

Local File

  • Plays a file from your computer.
  • Click Browse to pick a file, or enter the full file path manually.
  • Supported formats include .mp3, .wav, .ogg, .flac, and most other common audio formats.

URL

  • Plays audio from a direct online link.
  • The URL must point directly to an audio file (ending in .mp3, .wav, etc.).
  • TipLink will download and play the file when the alert fires.

Volume​

  • Sets the playback volume as a percentage (1–100).
  • Default: 50.
  • This is independent of your Windows system volume.

Output Device​

  • Lets you choose which audio device plays the sound.
  • If left blank, TipLink uses your Windows default playback device.
  • Useful if you want alert sounds to play through a virtual audio cable (e.g. into OBS) rather than your main speakers.
Finding your output device

Open Windows Sound Settings → Playback devices to see the names of your available audio output devices. Enter the device name exactly as it appears there.

Tips​

  • Use a short, punchy sound (under 3 seconds) for donation alerts so it doesn't overlap with your overlay animation.
  • If you want to play different sounds for different donation amounts, create separate alerts with different Audio Player actions.
  • Combine an Audio Player action with a Stream Overlay action on the same alert to play a sound and show a visual at the same time.
